Sigh Styles for SunStar's Concept: Grunge Throwback

I was tasked again to do a photo shoot for Sunstar newspaper fashion spread on GRUNGE Fashion.  It was officially published on October 18, 2013.

The next 5 pictures made it on print.

'The most important event in 1990s fashion was the rise of Grunge fashion in 1992. Grunge fashion was influenced by grunge music, which achieved mainstream popularity in 1992, due to the mainstream success of Nirvana and their hit single Smells Like Teen Spirit. The grunge style resulted in a decline in bright colours, and was dominated by plaid flannel shirts, stonewashed blue jeans, and dark colours like maroon, forest green, indigo, and brown. White and black were also popular colours in grunge style. It was considered the most depressing, angst filled style.

Grunge fashion popularized Doc Martens style shoes and boots, and high-top sneakers in red, indigo, forest green, and black (such as Chuck Taylor All-Stars). It emphasized long hair, which most teen and pre-teen girls already had, and which a few teen and pre-teen boys adopted. Grunge fashion was a unisex phenomenon. Although the grunge look was considered "anti-fashion", the fashion industry made it a distinct fashion style by selling plaid items like hooded sweatshirts, sweatshirt vests, long sleeved t-shirts and shorts. Grunge fashion remained popular through 1994. via the wikipedia
Though flannel plaid shirts remained popular through 1997, fashion started to move away from many of the other plaid styles in 1994. Waffle-patterns became popular on sweatshirts and polo shirts with colours such as white, beige and red, and remained popular until 1995. Olive green t-shirts, sweatshirts and dress shirts were all the rage in 1994 and 1995. Olive green remained more or less popular through 1998. Grey also became popular, and Oatmeal and wheat started to become popular with girls and women. Bowling shirts became popular, and remained more or less popular for the remainder of the 1990s. In the fall of 1994, bell-bottom jeans were replaced with wide-leg jeans. White denim became fashionable among guys as well as girls.' via the wikipedia
“Grunge is nothing more than the way we dress when we have no money,”[1] the designer Jean Paul Gaultier toldVogue in 1993, the year fashion co-opted the look. It had grown out of the raw, messy scene surrounding the raw, messy sound—produced by a bedraggled pack of flannel-clad Pacific Northwest dropouts—that was suddenly the talk of the fashion establishment. via http://www.vogue.com/voguepedia/Grunge

Pink Philosophy: How to Be Subtle Yet Obvious in Ballet Slippers and There's More To It Than Just Being Skin-Deep Kawaii

Wait... I am not a ballerina!
So, what's the fuss with ballet slippers in my title? I'm not going to talk about "that" footwear in this post.  The world of fashion has baptized new names to the colors of the rainbow by associating it with things we are familiar with, like for example: yellow to Butterscotch, gray to Pebble and yes, pink to Ballet Slippers.
My vacation to the Philippines last August, has given me the chance to reunite with my wardrobe, which I missed seriously, play dress-up and be all out in my favorite Ballet Slippers = Pink!
Here's my take on one of A/W 2017 colors: Ballet Slippers, subtly monochromatic yet still obviously color-coordinated in pink, right?

But honestly, there's more to the color pink than just being on trend now and leaving an image of skin-deep bubbliness and irresistibly kawaii.

My Pink Philosophy:

Pink has always been a color identified to Barbie and for anything girly and youthful.  Despite being 20 years junior to the ac…

A Dozen Unfiltered Reasons Why Bangkok,Thailand Is Always My Place To Be

People nowadays have abundant, diverse resources that traveling outside one's home country has been a typical option for holidays or even for a long-weekend vacation.  And if you are from the Philippines, the accessible places and, by fact, the more affordable options would be those destinations nearby such as Hong Kong, Singapore and Thailand.

Yes, Thailand! My second favorite country, of course, next to the Philippines.  The country has a massive land area. But with the four times that I have been there, most of my adventures were spent only in Bangkok. In spite of it, I know that there are still numerous places to explore in the city of Big Mango.
I have overflowing stories to share about my trips to Bangkok, with brimming enthusiasm.  I have had several detailed blog posts about my trips since 2011, 2013 and 2014.  Although this post and the pictures you will be seeing are #throwback shots, I hope to still provide you with an overview of what the city has to offer and be able to…
