Sigh Styles for SunStar's Concept: EMERALD

Part of my plan in building up my portfolio as a Fashion Stylist is to be able to have my works be printed or seen in any publications, initially, by a local publishing house.
With my efforts to have this plan - slash - dream to come into realization, I contacted someone from SunStar, with no single chance yet of getting a Yes.  I guess, the nod is not luck; but this is what I get from crossing boundaries and being intrepid in all circumstances I allow myself to be involved.  I was then assigned with the topic on EMERALD, as it is the color of the year, way back February.  But it was only on April that the shoot was done.  And weeks later, the paper was out with the fruits of our labor on it.

Hope you will appreciate my outputs.  I honestly take pride in these.

EMERALD
by Sigh Styles

The first TWO photos below are my shots that were published at SunStar - see above - April 26, 2013 issue.

I prepared FIVE outfits for this photo shoot but only THREE were utilized.  We had to do it in haste for some consequential reasons.

I invited a photographer, who brought along a second shooter.  I met them, as well as my gorgeous model on the day of our photo shoot.  The birth of Facebook made this meeting all possible.
Despite the outputs of the main photographers - KEN SUAREZ and EDCEL CENIZA, I had to submit mine to add more options for the lay-out artist and editor of SunStar.  And with my mediocre photos, I was more than amazed to have seen my shots in print.

For the styling, the outfit concepts evolved in the following:
1. Haute in Emerald
2. Velvet Vintage in Emerald
3. Naughty and Nice in Emerald

The succeeding photos are my humble takes, that didn't make it in print.  I was a bit struggling with my camera during this shoot since it was my first time to use my new prime lens.  I was merely in a practice mode then.

Meet, ANNE MAY AMOR NAQUINES, the Model of this EMERALD concept.
Isn't she the perfect MUSE?
I was intrigued as to who she is as her pretty photos did somehow positively flood my news feed.  I contacted her and she was so nice to say yes to my request.  Was I lucky? Of course!  Zero regrets to have her as my model.  And   I so look forward to work with her in my future shoots.

Every time I look into her face, I always get awed by her beauty.  And her skin is so pristinely white, sparkling under the sun.  She is such a beauty, in and out.

My model is not just lovely-gorgeous, but CUTE as well.  I had to let her don neon props, as in that of the cap and oversized ribbon for a more playful look, plus the gummy SNAKE!

F.Y.I. - This shoot is showing the 2 REPRESENTATIONS for the year 2013:
1) EMERALD as the Pantone Color of 2013 and 2.) SNAKE (Water) as the Chinese Animal of 2013.

I am also grateful to my trusted make-up artist friend, DANI ALCEDERA, for doing so Great! again.

The clothes are all available at CHIC VINTAGE!
My friends did also entrusted me their creative works:
LORELIE OPO for the emerald crystal bead and R2S ORIGAMI for the metallic emerald origami bouquet - as seen in Haute in Emerald concept

This is a wrap.  Thank you to all those who appreciate my FASHION STYLING works!  My photography skills are still to be honed, but I'm really doing extra efforts to be better.

Do keep coming back for more of my fashion styling adventures.

Sigh Styles for SunStar's Concept: Grunge Throwback

I was tasked again to do a photo shoot for Sunstar newspaper fashion spread on GRUNGE Fashion.  It was officially published on October 18, 2013. The next 5 pictures made it on print. 'The most important event in 1990s fashion was the rise of Grunge fashion in 1992. Grunge fashion was influenced by grunge music, which achieved mainstream popularity in 1992, due to the mainstream success of Nirvana and their hit single Smells Like Teen Spirit. The grunge style resulted in a decline in bright colours, and was dominated by plaid flannel shirts, stonewashed blue jeans, and dark colours like maroon, forest green, indigo, and brown. White and black were also popular colours in grunge style. It was considered the most depressing, angst filled style.  via wikipedia Grunge fashion popularized Doc Martens style shoes and boots, and high-top sneakers in red, indigo, forest green, and black (such as Chuck Taylor All-Stars). It emphasized long hair, which most teen and pr
